The Sixteen shoot into the top spot with their stunning recording of Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610.

It's all change once again in the Classic FM Chart as The Sixteen zoom from No.30 to No.1 - an unprecedented leap - with their superb recording of Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610. It's described by Harry Christophers as "quite simply one of the greatest works of sacred music ever written and without doubt the most varied and inspired before Handel and Bach began composing their oratorios and passions."

Sacred choral music is the hallmark of this week's two new entries. James MacMillan's St Luke Passion enters the chart at 24 and Bach's St Matthew Passion, performed by the Academy of Ancient Music is a new entry at 28.
