Music Teacher of the Year 2014

Recognize and reward the nation’s most inspirational music teachers - voting in the 2014 competition is now closed.

Voting is now closed in Music Teacher of the Year 2014. Keep an eye on the website for information about the 2015 edition.

Do you know of a music teacher who makes lessons truly exciting? Somebody who works all the hours for his or her students?

Classic FM has teamed up with Yamaha, Avid and the Musicians’ Union to give you the opportunity to reward a special music teacher who has made the greatest difference to the musical life of their students. Now in its 16th year, the prestigious Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year Awards recognize and reward those teachers who have made a real difference to the musical life of young people.

As well as recognizing primary and secondary school music teachers, the awards also pay tribute to peripatetic and private music teachers, and those who work with children with special needs. And for those who have made music teaching their life’s work, there’s an award for Lifetime Achievement.

The five winning teachers of these awards will each receive thousands of pounds worth of musical equipment from Yamaha and Avid software for themselves, their schools or music services.

The awards will be presented at the Music for Youth Schools Prom over three nights at the Royal Albert Hall, London, from the 10th - 12th November.  To find out more about the Schools Prom, three remarkable concerts showcasing a new generation of musical talent, click here.
