The nominations for the Classic BRIT Awards have been revealed

The 2018 Classic BRIT Awards nominations have been announced, and Classic FM listeners can decide who wins the Album of the Year category.

A whole host of musical talent from across the worlds of classical, soundtracks and musicals. Leading the nominations for 2018 are Classic FM’s very own Alexander Armstrong, as well as soundtrack legend Hans Zimmer and Sheridan Smith, all of whom receive two nominations.

Rising cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason will go up against the likes of tenor Jonas Kaufmann and composer Max Richter in the Male Artist category, while the Female Artist category will see the Renée Fleming nominated alongside Dame Vera Lynn and cellist Tina Guo.

Dame Vera Lynn will also receive the previously announced Lifetime Achievement award to honour her long career, while Tokio Myers will be given the Breakthrough Artist gong to mark the beginning of his.

The winner of the Classic FM Album of the Year category will be decided by listeners to Classic FM from a shortlist of ten albums, including works by André Rieu, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Roy Orbison, and Michael Ball & Alfie Boe.
