A Special Recognition Classic BRIT Award has been given to Classic FM as the station marks its 20th anniversary
Classic FM has been given a Special Recognition Classic BRIT Award at the nomination ceremony and launch of this year's awards. The station celebrates its 20th birthday tomorrow.
Station director Darren Henley and presenter Margherita Taylor (who was also the host of the ceremony) accepted the award on behalf of the whole company. The award is in recognition of the 20th birthday, and of the support that Classic FM has shown the Classic BRITs in previous years.
Other nominees named at the ceremony, held at London's Savoy Hotel, included Andrea Bocelli, Nicola Benedetti and John Williams, who will be the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 2012 Classic BRIT Awards ceremony will take place on October 2nd at the Royal Albert Hall. Confirmed performers for the glittering event include Andre Rieu, Nicola Benedetti and Andrea Bocelli.
