Ed Vaizey, the Minister for Culture, Communications and the Creative Industries, opened this year's annual ABO Conference in Liverpool. Speaking about the position of orchestras within society and the opportunities to get involved with music education, and the UK's first ever national music plan.
‘The Importance of Music’ is a government initiative that will enable every child to have the chance to learn to play a musical instrument for at least a term. The new plan also aims to ensure that all pupils have rich cultural opportunities alongside their academic and vocational studies.
