A recording of Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf featuring David Bowie as narrator is being re-released by Sony Classical in time for Christmas.
The announcement came via the singer's official Facebook page.
Bowie's collaboration with the Philadelphia Orchestra was originally recorded back in 1978, with Eugene Ormandy conducting. It was intended in part to be a Christmas present from Bowie to his son, Duncan, who was seven years old at the time.
The singer was reportedly label RCA's third choice for the role of narrator, after both Alec Guinness and Peter Ustinov turned the position down.
Other pieces included alongside the Prokofiev orchestral favourite include Britten's Young Person's Guide (not narrated by Bowie) to the Orchestra and Tchaikovsky's suite from The Nutcracker.
The physical and digital version of the release is now available.
