Classic FM's Tim Lihoreau spoke to the Welsh wonder on the occasion of his birthday celebration at Classic FM Live in Cardiff.
Karl Jenkins is now the most-performed living composer in the world; 'The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace' alone has been performed nearly 2000 times in 20 different countries since the debut recording was released, while Karl’s output has resulted in 17 gold and platinum disc awards.
Tim Lihoreau caught up with Karl ahead of the performance and chatted with him about his life and music, including work on commercials with Ridley Scott and Alan Parker.
"My life has been a series of accidents in a way," he said. "All based on being a musician, but I never would have thought for a moment when I was studying in Cardiff at university for my Bachelor of Music degree, I never thought I'd be doing what I'm doing now!"
