The classical music stars reveal their penchant for pop after attending Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball concert in Vienna.
Between filming in London and Vienna for their upcoming music videos, David Garrett and Lang Lang found the time to let their hair down and enjoy a Lady Gaga concert last Saturday. Both classical performers are well-known for their vivacious performing style – a trait they share with the quirky pop star.
Lang Lang tweeted a picture of himself and David in the audience at the Vienna Stadthalle before jetting off to Switzerland to play Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ Piano Concerto the Lucerne Festival. The pianist is known for bringing classical music to a wider audience, playing at high profile events like Latitude Festival and the Diamond Jubilee concert, alongside pop icons including Annie Lennox, Sir Elton John, and Stevie Wonder.
David Garrett is yet again proving he has wide-ranging tastes in music. He appeared at the Royal Variety Performance in 2011 playing a cover version of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. His latest projects include a performance on the 25th Anniversary edition of Freddie Mercury’s Barcelona album, with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé, released on 3 September.
