David Garrett's long-lost album documents the extraordinary talent of the then 14-year old violinist. Album of the Weekend, 3-4 August 2013.
31-year old German violinist David Garrett was the youngest male artist ever to sign to the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label. Today he fills stadiums with his distinctive brand of violin music.
This new release - also known as 'The Lost Album' - offers a glimpse of how it all began: the 14-year old Garrett performing a selection of popular, virtuosic showpieces, including works by Kreisler, Schubert and Paganini.
The recital was recorded in Munich in 1995 as a showcase for the teenager's talents - and exceptionally good he is too. Alexander Markovich provides strong support on the piano.
