Sight-reading Eric Whitacre's music in front of the man himself? We put Tim 'nerves of steel' Lihoreau to the test to see just how easy it is to submit a video for Eric's latest project, Virtual Choir 4.
Eric Whitacre's inviting singers of any standard to submit a video for his Virtual Choir 4 project, an internet-based group of performers whose voices will be edited together to create a truly international choir. We wanted to give it a go ourselves, so we put Classic FM's Tim Lihoreau to the test - and luckily Eric was on hand to guide him through the process.
While Eric's superfans might be disappointed, most singers will be relieved to hear they won't have to perform in front of the man himself if they want to be part of the choir: "To everybody out there watching this: I will not come to your house and sit with you," he said. "You will be doing this in the privacy of your own home, nice and quiet, no pressure!"
As well as giving us a step-by-step guide to recording a Virtual Choir video, Eric explains what makes this year's project so special, and why it's likely to be just as well-received at Buckingham Palace as it is in a night club.
