Great British Home Chorus – Live Rehearsal with Classic FM - Session 31 (Week 7)

Classic FM presenters Alan Titchmarsh and Charlotte Hawkins will be special guests tonight – joining Gareth to catch up and take part in today’s Great British Home Chorus online rehearsal.

While many of us are doing our bit by staying home during the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve been delighted to be able to watch, and take part in, numerous virtual music-making experiences.

One such offering is Gareth Malone’s Great British Home Chorus – which the choirmaster created to bring together self-isolating singers around the country – and our very own Alan Titchmarsh and Charlotte Hawkins will be special guests in today’s session (Wednesday 6 May).

Alan and Charlotte will catch up with Gareth, and join in with the session, which is the 31st rehearsal Gareth has held in the series of live rehearsals on YouTube.

As we’re in the week of the 75th anniversary of VE Day, the session will focus on Second World War favourites, including ‘A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square’, ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’ and ‘We’ll Meet Again’ – all made famous by Dame Vera Lynn.

Once you have the lyrics, have a bit of a practice, and watch and join in with the YouTube Live Rehearsal with Alan, Charlotte and Gareth here at 5.30pm BST (see live video above).

Alternatively you can join in directly on YouTube where you’ll be able to follow fellow singers’ comments as the rehearsal progresses.

Classic FM’s VE Day celebrations continue on Friday 8 May with special programmes to mark the day, including Sir Nicholas Soames’ special VE Day 75 concert.
