Taking over YouTube with the 'highlight reel' approach to classical music, The Piano Guys stopped off in the Classic FM studios to share their latest challenge: playing on all seven wonders of the ancient world.
Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson, Paul Anderson, and Al van der Beek, otherwise known as The Piano Guys, are taking on the ultimate musical geographical challenge. Not only are they planning to perform at all seven wonders of the ancient world... they're filming it all, and creating viral videos on YouTube. In a brief break from jet-setting, they popped in to talk to Classic FM's Rupert Bhatia about their incredible project.
Tackling the logistical nightmares that come with playing in these jaw-dropping locations (anyone got any ideas as to how to get a piano to the pyramids?), the Guys reveal exactly how they plan on completing their musical challenge - and what prompted them to do it.
"Taking classical music instruments like cellos and pianos, taking them out of their concert hall element, and putting them on the Great Wall of China, is something that was shareable," Steven said. "We wanted to attack that viral concept but at the same time enjoy seeing all the seven wonders of the world in a unique way too."
Following on from two performances in the UK, The Piano Guys are gearing up for an extensive US tour, after which, they'll be bringing their unique blend of classical music and pop back to Europe with dates in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
