The London Symphony Orchestra’s association with the film industry stretches all the way back to Arthur Bliss’s music for Things to Come – the first time an orchestra has recorded a movie soundtrack. Since then, the LSO has recorded music for all sorts of major blockbusters, including nearly all of John Williams’ soundtracks.
Here, they perform a collection of music by the Russian-born Dmitri Tiomkin - a man who received a staggering 22 Academy Award nominations, winning four of them. His most famous film scores include High Noon, Hitchcock’s Dial ‘M’ for Murder, and the theme for Rawhide.
Join John Brunning every evening at around 6.15 to hear this great new album of film music for yourself.
