Saturday 24 August
Karthi Gnanasegaram presents the third programme in this new, four-part series, celebrating the worlds of sport and classical music.
Tonight, Karthi features a host of music connected with the Olympic Games. The theme to Chariots of Fire was memorably used during the London 2012 opening ceremony, and will forever bring back images of Mr Bean sat at a keyboard.
Famous sport stars Tim Henman, Annabel Croft and David Hayes contribute to the programme, and all choose fine ‘athletic’ music: Henman explains why John Williams’ music for Atlanta 1996 is so important to him, while Annabel Croft brings back memories of Torvill & Dean winning gold in Sarajevo in 1984 by selecting Ravel’s Boléro.
