Programmes over the coming weeks will feature interviews with renowned personalities picking the classical music that has been with them as they’ve trained, succeeded and even failed, at the very highest level.
Join Dan and Karthi on Friday nights at 9pm.
Upcoming Shows
Friday 26 July
Dan Walker is celebrating the classical music that has soundtracked sports most iconic moments and inspired our nation’s famous sport stars.
This week's guest is one of our greatest triathletes, the only person to hold two Olympic titles in the individual triathlete event. Alistair Brownlee tells Dan about how he deals with success and failure, and that famous moment where he helped his brother Jonny - also a triathlete - across the finish line.
Alistair talks about his love of the music of Ludovico Einaudi, how he grew up playing the flute before sport won him over, and why the theme to Pirates of the Caribbean will always make him think of diving into the start of a triathlon.
Friday 2 August
Karthi Gnanasegaram meets former British tennis number one, Annabel Croft. She talks about her career, and her love of dance - including falling in love with ballet and the music of Prokofiev as a child. She also chooses Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony to represent her love of the countryside, and selects a hymn that was a favourite of her late husband, Make Me A Channel of Your Peace.
