Contemporary guitar music

The British composer Nick Fletcher is a new name for us – but his guitar album 'Cathedral of Dreams' is definitely worth a listen.

A talented guitarist and composer of music for solo guitar, Nick Fletcher has recorded a number of acclaimed CDs of classical guitar music and numerous Celtic music recordings, but this is the first CD release of his own solo compositions.

Featuring a range of influences from Baroque to traditional music from the Hebridean islands, the highlight is 'Iberian Fantasy' - a 24 minute long Guitar Concerto which is the perfect soundtrack for the summer months.

Says Nick, ‘I don’t consider myself to be a composer in the traditional sense.  I am simply an improvising musician.  It is out of this spontaneous creativity that my compositions take shape – and it would be fair to say that composing and improvising are two sides of the same coin’.
