Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’ sounds absolutely divine on this bizarre instrument.

Also called a singing saw, the musical saw is a genuine instrument that looks a bit like a hand saw. It is played with a violin bow, and is capable of creating beautiful glissandi and portamenti.

Here, YouTuber Grégoire Blanc – who also plays the theremin – plays a heavenly interpretation of Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’ on the instrument, accompanied by a piano.

Just make sure your turn down your headphones a notch – it’s a tad piercing!
