The nominations for this year's Academy Awards have been announced, with Hugo and The Artist leading the way with 11 and 10 nominations respectively, including Best Original Score.
Howard Shore's soundtrack to Hugo and Ludovic Bource's score for The Artist are joined by Alberto Iglesias' score for Tinker Tailor Solider Spy and two John Williams scores - The Adventures of Tintin and War Horse.
This is Howard Shore's fourth Oscar nomination, while John Williams' two nods this year bring his total up to an astonishing forty-seven nominations across 60 years of composing. Alberto Iglesias enjoys his third nomination while Ludovic Bource, whose work on the Artist has already earned him a Golden Globe this month, has been given his very first Oscar nomination.
Hugo and The Artist were both nominated for Best Picture alongside The Descendants, War Horse, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, Midnight in Paris, The Help and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
The 84th Academy Awards takes place on Sunday 26 February. The full list of nominations can be found at the official Academy Awards website.
