Glenn Dicterow on New York Philharmonic

As part of our Great Orchestras of the World series, we’ve spoken to Glenn Dicterow, Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, to find out about the oldest orchestra in the United States.

Dicterow says the New York Phil attracts some of the best musicians in the world because it’s based in the “cultural mecca of the United States”, and close to the Juilliard and Manhattan schools of music.

He talks about the challenge of maintaining the orchestra’s high standards and its hectic schedule of rehearsals and tours, as well as his personal highlights of playing with the orchestra.
