The Olympic and Paralympic Athletes Parade through London was topped off with Katherine Jenkins singing the National Anthem.
Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins had the honour of singing the National Anthem at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Athletes Parade yesterday. Standing in front of the congregated athletes and Prime Minister David Cameron, the performance took place in the shadow of Buckingham Palace.
The parade itself was the final ceremony of this summer's Olympic and Paralympic Games, and featured the Team GB athletes from both games parading through central London on open-top buses.
The parade culminated in front of Buckingham Palace, where Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Prime Minister David Cameron both made speeches.
Katherine Jenkins is the latest in a series of classical music artists to be heavily involved with the Olympics. The Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies featured the likes of the London Symphony Orchestra, Simon Rattle, Julian Lloyd Webber and the British Paraorchestra.
