All day yesterday, Classic FM was raising money for Global’s Make Some Noise, a national charity that helps disadvantaged children. We have raised an amazing £1,110,815 so far. Here are some of the highlights of the day.

Classic FM joined forces with sister radio stations, including Capital FM, LBC and Heart to support a new charity, Global's Make Some Noise - and managed to raise a staggering £1,110,815 for life-changing projects in the UK.

Classic FM's charity single
We recorded a charity single to mark the event, featuring some of the leading lights of the classical music world. The piece, composed by Howard Goodall, includes turns by Katherine Jenkins, Alfie Boe, Alexander Armstrong, Myleene Klass, Laura Wright, Sol3 Mio and Lucy Kay.

The single, called 'Steadfast', will be released shortly on iTunes, and you can listen to an exclusive preview, and watch a video from behind the scenes (above), following the mammoth logistical task of recording a single in under 24 hours. Have a listen, it's truly breathtaking...

Wynne Evans sang a sneak preview of the song:

Alfie Boe flew in all the way from America:

Soprano Laura Wright says she's not used to this kind of thing:

And Classic FM presenter Laurence Llewelyn Bowen made his debut on the glockenspiel:

We were trending on Twitter
Twitter was buzzing with excitement, with #MakeSomeNoise trending throughout the day and night. Soprano Laura Wright, who features on the single, tweeted:

Myleene Klass, who provided the piano part, had other duties throughout the day...

Classic FM's charity single wasn't the only event on Make Some Noise day. Deputy PM Nick Clegg got involved by playing a charity tennis match for our sister station LBC. And he was humble in defeat...

Fake Some Noise
Our presenters joined the fun by 'Faking Some Noise' for Make Some Noise. Here's our presenter John Suchet's beautiful verismo singing...
