You can’t rely on the British summer to be sunny. If rain scuppers your outdoors date, try one of these indoor alternatives.
1. Indoor picnic
Don’t let the rain stop your picnic. Many museums have indoor eating areas and most parks and gardens will have a covered nook for a cosy lunch.
2. Board games
Settle into your favourite coffee shop and while away the hours with a board game. Scrabble is a good bet - you can learn a lot about someone through their choice of words.
3. Take a tour
Visit a nearby museum, gallery or country house and join the guided tour. You’ll be warm and dry indoors and very well informed to boot!
4. Be spontaneous
If rain changes your plans, don’t be downhearted. Be spontaneous and go to the nearest indoor place that you find. It could be a pub, an exhibition or a climbing centre, but it will be unexpected and fun.
5. Pop on your waterproofs
Why not embrace the weather? Don those wellies, splash in the puddles and take a bracing walk in the great outdoors.
