Choosing your username

It may seem the least important part of the process when signing up to Classic FM Romance, but a good username is crucial.

It’s sensible to avoid giving out too much information on the internet but using your first name (only your first name) is a good idea as it will humanise you and make you more approachable. Use the opportunity to tell people something about yourself too, for example James_windsurf. It might sound silly but you’ve already given potential dates a bit of information that will draw them to your profile.

If you don’t want to use your first name, avoid anonymous combinations of letters and numbers. Try a couple of words that introduce you, like shy_singer or something that will raise a smile; these can act as a real icebreaker. Geographically specific names work well, but be sure to personalise it: Glasgowgolfer will work better than Glasgowguy.

Make sure your username is upbeat and positive. Unluckyinlove or helpheartbroken may accurately describe you but they will have people running for the hills. The world of online dating is competitive, so use every opportunity to succeed.
