Glorious romantic movie music from Benjamin Wallfisch featuring pianist Yuja Wang. Classic FM Drive Featured Album, 22 July 2013.
Based on a novel by Jonathan Smith, Summer in February recreates the loves and losses of the English artists colony in Cornwall shortly before the shattering impact of the Great War.
For the film's soundtrack, British composer Benjamin Wallfisch has understood the ins-and-outs of period film music very well indeed, having spent years working with Dario Marianelli on such scores as Atonement, Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre.
Wallfisch's lush score is sumptuously romantic and atmospheric, surging with all the expected Edwardian passions, and there are hauntingly beautiful cues from the virtuoso pianist Yuja Wang.
