Watch Lisa Batiashvili make her Bristol Proms debut (above) with a Bach-heavy programme, and hear her chat (below) with Classic FM right after she came off stage.
Georgian violinist Lisa Batiashvili took Bach to Bristol in the opening night of the Bristol Proms, tackling the baroque master's Violin Concerto in E Major, as well as the 'Erbame dich' from his St Matthew Passion. And joining her at the front of her specially-assembled ensemble for the double concerto for violin and oboe was her husband, Francois Leleux.
But more importantly, as she told us straight after she came off-stage, this was a show dedicated to taking Bach to a new audience: "What I found amazing about this project was the whole atmosphere when we came on stage, the people were already screaming... you feel that you can actually have this communication with the audience."
