Join cellist Alban Gerhardt in Tim Lihoreau's Wednesday web chat

This week, Tim's web chat guest is the brilliant cellist Alban Gerhardt. He'll be online at 9am on Wednesday 22 April – post your questions for him below.

Alban Gerhardt is one of the world's greatest cellists – but he's just as at home performing on stage at London's Wigmore Hall as busking in German train stations – as part of a collaboration with Deutsche Bahn.

Alban has performed with some of the greatest orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw and the LA Philharmonic. His recordings include Fauré's Cello Sonatas, virtuosic encores by Casals and Prokofiev's Cello Concerto. But he's also brought less familiar works to light, and has made a point of rescuing works from undeserved obscurity.

He's part-way through a series of recitals at London's Wigmore Hall – catch the last performance on 19 June – and this Thursday, 23 April, he's performing Elgar's Cello Concerto with conductor Edward Gardner and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

He'll be joining our breakfast presenter Tim Lihoreau this Wednesday at 9am – so post your questions for him below. And don't forget to check back at 9am tomorrow to join the discussion.
