Highlights of the Birmingham International Concert Season 2012-13, at THSH Birmingham.
Working with Classic FM since 2002, Town Hall and Symphony Hall, Birmingham, connect people to music through a dynamic and varied concert and education programme at their two world-renowned concert halls. Between them, Town Hall & Symphony Hall host around 600 events every year, including the Birmingham International Concert Season – the largest season of visiting international orchestras and musicians to take place outside of London.
Each season Classic FM selects highlights from the Birmingham International Concert Season, which include:
Helene Grimaud and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra perform Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto on Friday 12 April (7.30pm, Symphony Hall) as part of the Birmingham Beethoven Cycle.
The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande give a rare UK performance at Symphony Hall on Tuesday 21 May, 7.30pm, with works by Tchaikovsky, Grieg and Arvo Part.
The Universe of Sound Weekend (Friday 14 – Saturday 15 June) coincides with the installation of the Philharmonia’s Universe of Sound exhibition in Birmingham’s Old Bank (25 May – 16 June) and includes a screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey, with live music, and a performance of Holst’s The Planets
