The Three Tenors in Concert 1994 - 20th Anniversary Edition

Relive one of the greatest concerts that Pavarotti, Carreras and Domingo ever gave. John Suchet's Album of the Week, 9 June 2014.

First brought together for the 1990 World Cup Finals in Italy, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras joined forces again four years later with their conductor Zubin Mehta, this time at the Los Angeles' Dodgers Stadium with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Music Center Opera Chorus, to perform a selection of arias and popular songs.

Domingo offered a boisterous rendition of 'Granada', Carreras sang a passionate 'O souverain, o juge, o père,' and Pavarotti brought down the house with 'Nessun dorma'. And when the three of them got together to give us 'La donna è mobile' and the Drinking Song from La Traviata, all heaven broke loose.

Twenty years on here's the chance to relive one of the seminal moments in recent classical music history when opera truly reached the masses and became a multi-million album selling phenomenon.
