The Full Works Concert - Friday 4 April 2014: Neville Marriner at 90

An exclusive broadcast of Sir Neville Marriner's 90th birthday concert from London's Royal Festival Hall.

Our Neville Marriner at 90 celebrations culminate in an exclusive broadcast of the conductor’s birthday concert at the Royal Festival Hall. 

Featuring the maestro with the ensemble he founded in 1958, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the concert was recorded especially for Classic FM on Tuesday 1 April. 

Sir Neville conducts Elgar’s Enigma Variations, while the orchestra’s current Music Director, Joshua Bell, directs Saint-Saens’ showpiece Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. The ensemble's Principal Guest Conductor, the pianist Murray Perahia, directs Mozart’s sparkling Piano Concerto No.20 from the keyboard.
