The National Children's Orchestra are set to tackle the mighty 10th Symphony by Shostakovich in a special concert in Bristol tomorrow
In a special concert as part of their 2012 season, the National Children's Orchestra will tomorrow perform Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10, alongside works by Malcolm Arnold and Eric Coates.
The concert will take place in Bristol's Colston Hall on Saturday 25th August, and the orchestra will be conducted by guest conductor Peter Stark. Speaking about the orchestra, Stark commented: "The National Children’s Orchestra is a beacon of excellence which we should all shout about. There has never been a better time for the NCO to show what outstandingly talented children can achieve in music."
When asked what his favourite thing about being in the NCO was, percussionist Elliot Gaston-Ross (13) said: "My favourite thing about playing in the NCO is performing in great venues in front of varied audiences, as part of a team, with like-minded friends."
Asked the same question, French horn player Olivia Gandee (12) commented: "My favourite thing about playing in the NCO is making friends with other children who share my passion for classical music."
