Auction house Brompton's is donating a cello to the orchestras, as well as £6,000 from the sale of a violin, in celebration of the orchestra's 35th anniversary year.
Young musicians in the National Children's Orchestras are soon to benefit from a donation from a specialist music auction house. Brompton's, a leading seller of musical instruments in Europe and the UK, is donating a half-size English cello to the orchestra, as well as £6,000 from the sale of a violin.
The funds will go towards supporting the NCO's activities, developing opportunities for young players to perform in a symphony orchestra. The acquisition of a new cello will give a child access to an instrument, supporting their musical development regardless of a family's financial situation.
A spokesperson said: "The NCO is very grateful to Brompton’s for their act of kindness, which will contribute to motivating and nurturing young talent and providing inspirational opportunities for young musicians to perform in a symphony orchestra."
Open to talented musicians aged between 7 and 13, the NCO enables children to perform in some of the country's greatest concert halls and work with professional artists. The orchestra celebrates its 35th anniversary this year with gala concert at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, on 31 August.
