Myleene Klass welcomes Olympic fans

Classic FM presenter and pianist Myleene Klass is ensuring the Olympic passengers landing at Heathrow Terminal 5 receive a suitably musical welcome, on the busiest day in the airport’s history.

Myleene Klass is performing a special arrangement of the Olympic-themed Chariots of Fire as passengers arrive at London’s Heathrow Terminal 5 throughout the day at 10.30am, 1pm, and at 2.30pm. More than 100,000 passengers travel through the airport every day, but today is expected to be the busiest day in the airport’s history as last-minute passengers arrive just two days before the Opening Ceremony.

Nearly 3700 of today’s estimated 218,000 passengers expected in the terminals are part of the ‘Games Family’, which includes athletes, coaches, officials and media staff. They will be treated to a suitably rousing welcome – the music played by Myleene is the theme tune from the popular Chariots of Fire film, documenting the stories of two runners in the 1924 Olympic Games.

Myleene said: "It's a wonderful opportunity to be part of London's biggest welcome for people arriving for the London 2012 Games. I'm sure it will create a lasting memory both for me and Heathrow's passengers as we all look forward to the start of the Games."

In the build-up to the Games, the airport has ensured passengers entering the UK receive a suitably British welcome. Marching bands, London Beefeaters, and appearances from the official Olympic Mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville have all taken part in displays as the anticipation builds.
