In this dazzling concert from London's Royal Festival Hall, Jane Jones presents one of America's top orchestras, the Philadelphia under the baton of the acclaimed Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Recorded exclusively for Classic FM, the Philadelphia Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.5. It's the epitome of the grand Romantic symphony, filled with sweeping melody, high emotion and moments of volcanic eruption.

Also on the programme tonight, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.3 played by the distinguished pianist Emanuel Ax, making a rare visit to London.

Listen out too for a special encore by Emmanuel Ax, and two classic recordings of the Philadelphia Orchestra, playing Shostakovich's Festive Overture conducted by Riccardo Muti and Mussorgsky's A Night on the Bare Mountain, under Eugene Ormandy.
