Tonight’s Immortal Masters programme begins with a brilliant performance of the Schumann Cello Concerto from the soloist Mstislav Rostropovich.
We’ll also be hearing from the conductor Vernon Handley, the soprano Dame Joan Sutherland, and the organist Marie-Claire Alain, who’ll perform Saint-Saens’ Symphony No.3 (‘Organ’).
