The Full Works Concert - Thursday 31 January 2013: A Schubert Spectacular

On this day in 1797, the Austrian composer Franz Schubert was born – and on this day in 1828, the composer’s popular Ave Maria was premiered in Vienna.

So, two very good excuses to celebrate the music of the man known to his friends as ‘the little mushroom’. Beginning with a performance of Ave Maria featuring Pavarotti, Jane will include his Symphony No.5, played by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti, his German Mass and will round off the spectacular with the Trout – all played in full.
