John Williams, Alexandre Desplat and more on soundtrack Oscar longlist

Soundtrack legends and newcomers alike have made the long list for the soundtrack category at the 2014 Academy Awards ceremony, due to take place in February.
John Williams, Alexandre Desplat, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore and Thomas Newman are among the previous nominees and winners of the awards and perhaps the most expected names on the list.
Williams has previously won the award for his soundtracks for films like Star Wars, Jaws and E.T., and is on the list this year for his score for The Book Thief.
However, a large number of newer composers on smaller movie projects have also made their presence felt. Composers from the world of video games and television make up a large amount of the remainder, including a nod for former Classic FM Composer in Residence Joby Talbot.
Other notable composers on the list include Danny Elfman for his score to Oz: The Great and the Powerful, and Steven Price's score for Gravity. Rock musicians Win Butler from the Arcade Fire, Owen Pallet and Anthony Gonzalez (better known as M83) have also made the list.
