The BAFTA Film Awards 2014
The nominations for the annual British Academy Film Awards, otherwise known as The BAFTAs, have been announced ahead of the ceremony on February 16th 2014. But who are the nominees in the prestigious soundtrack category? And who will the winners be?
- This year's ceremony take place at London's glittering Royal Opera House on Sunday 16 February, hosted by Stephen Fry.
- Nominations in the Best Music category this year are: Henry Jackman - Captain Phillips, Hans Zimmer - 12 Years a Slave, John Williams - The Book Thief, Thomas Newman - Saving Mr Banks, and Steven Price - Gravity.
- Traditionally a forerunner to the Oscars at the end of February, the BAFTAs see the cream of the film-making world descend on London for one of the most important awards ceremonies in the calendar.
- Last year, the Original Music category honoured five very diverse movie soundtracks by a range of fantastic composers - Mychael Danna (Life Of Pi), John Williams (Lincoln), Dario Marianelli (Anna Karenina), Thomas Newman (Skyfall) and Alexandre Desplat (Argo), with Thomas Newman being crowned the winner.
