Chief executive of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Dougie Scarfe has praised the resilience of British orchestra in testing economic times at the ABO Conference.

Scarfe, whose orchestra will be leading Classic FM Live in April, told Jane Jones about the challenges orchestras have faced, and how they've responded:

"It is a fact that all all organisations who receive funding from the public purse are challenged, they've been challenged since 2008."

"The remarkable thing about British orchestras is how flexible and resilient they have become."

Scarfe did also sound a note of caution, and hinted that uncertain times might still be to come, however: "Obviously we're all slightly worried about what will happen after the next election."
