Hans Zimmer on his Classic BRITs win: "I am terrible at receiving compliments"

Movie music maestro Hans Zimmer arrives at the Royal Albert Hall ahead of winning the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at the 2013 Classic BRIT Awards.

Gladiator composer Hans Zimmer arrives at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 2 October for the Classic BRIT Awards where he's collecting the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

He's also nominated in the Composer category.

But the movie music maestro says he finds it hard to take praise for what he does.

Classic FM Lucy Coward caught up with him on the red carpet and asked him about the importance of technology to his music.

"I don't think I would have a career without technology," says Zimmer. "It followed me along. I haven't written on paper for a long time."
