David Arnold: Casino Royale

Director: Martin Campbell
Released: 2006
Stars: Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Judi Dench

The Film: Casino Royale is essentially the prequel to the Bond franchise, introducing a rough and ready James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, who has still to achieve his 'licence to kill' status. If you haven’t seen it, it’s probably not spoiling the plot too much to tell you that Vesper is nothing to do with churches, it is the name of Bond's love interest, Vesper Lynd who is placed by 'M' to keep a close eye on the reckless new '007'. Bond is planted in a high-stakes poker game at Le Casino Royale to play against suspect Le Chiffre and uncover his role in bankrolling the world's terrorist organisations.

Composer:
To go with “the best Bond in ages”, Bond nut David Arnold produced the best Bond score in ages, too. The track 'Vesper' is a small but perfectly formed chunk of Arnold heaven.
