The New Year Honours List has been announced and two leading lights of the classical world are featured in it.
Anthony Pappano, the English born conductor and pianist, will receive a knighthood. Pappano, is currently the music director of the Royal Opera House. Previous engagements have also seen him work with Daniel Barenboim on the Bayreuth Festival, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
Composer and conductor Ronald Corp will receive a CBE. Corp is the founder and Artistic Director of the New London Orchestra and Musical Director of the London Chorus and Highgate Choral Society. In 1991 he launched the New London Children’s Choir to introduce the joys of singing to young people.
