The accomplished girl group produces some serene sounds. Classic FM Album of the Week, 12 January 2015.
The debut album from this all-girl vocal group offers a refreshing new twist on a range of repertoire, including classical, jazz and pop. Four members of Celeste sang and studied together at Wells Cathedral School in Somerset, while the fifth was a chorister at nearby Salisbury.
They've been singing together for a decade and their vocal and personal chemistry certainly shines through in this selection, which ranges from a touching version of the 'Pie Jesu ' from Andrew Lloyd Webber 's Requiem to a sublime version of John McCrae's World War I poem, In Flanders Field , set to Vaughan Williams 's prelude to the World War II propaganda film, 49th Parallel.
One of the most promising and well-produced debuts from a 'crossover' act for a long while.
