Every Saturday night at 9pm-10pm, David Mellor reviews all the latest classical music releases.
There’s an American theme to this week’s New Releases Show as David selects two recordings of music by George Gershwin and another featuring Arnold Schoenberg, who used to live near Gershwin – and apparently the two composers were tennis partners in Hollywood!
he Schoenberg album, by the violinist Janine Jansen, also features Schubert's String Quintet and it's David's Album of the Week. There’s another nod to America with his Best for Beginners choice, which this week is a new recording of Aaron Copland’s Rodeo by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
