This week, John Brunning introduces a new name to Classic FM – the British pianist Fabio d’Andrea, whose new album of laid-back piano favourites is released on Sunday, August 26.
The album includes music by Satie and Debussy, alongside some of Fabio’s own music. In the Gymnopédies, there’s a wonderful sense of musical distillation: no note is extraneous; nothing is rushed; and it’s almost impossible to hear it and not feel relaxed afterwards.
