A new smartphone app from Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth has been announced, with Helseth playing a launch concert in New York.
Trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth has announced a brand new app for iPhone and iPad, with an Android version currently in development. It is the first app from EMI Classics and was made in collaboration with Norwegian technology company Bach Technology.
The app itself allows users to connect with the trumpeter directly, as well as via her Facebook and Twitter accounts. It also features performance clips, Helseth-related news, a concert map, tour date notifications and an exclusive free download of the first track from her upcoming new album.
Helseth is among the first classical musicians to be associated with an app, and was present to launch it with a live concert at the Apple Store in Soho, New York. The app is free, and is available via the iTunes store.
The new recital album is due in Spring 2013 and sees Helseth collaborate with pianist Kathy Stott. The exclusive download track supplied with the app is Puccini's 'Storiella d’Amore (Melodia)'.
