This May, Music in the Round and their resident musicians Ensemble 360 present nine packed days of intimate concerts in the UK’s most extraordinary venue for chamber music, the Crucible Studio Theatre, Sheffield.

Running from 11th to 19th May, the new-look Sheffield Chamber Music Festival opens with a concert of music by Wagner and Mahler, performed up-close by Last Night of the Proms star Roderick Williams and the acclaimed Ensemble 360. There will also be an in-the-round presentation of Schubert’s Swansong by Roderick Williams and pianist Iain Burnside. 



Over the festival, the ever-inventive Ensemble 360 will be treating audiences to chamber music by many of classical music’s greatest composers, from trios and string quartets to quintets and more.  Works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Bach all feature, not to mention the Classic FM Hall of Fame favourite, Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending.

We are giving you the chance to be there, with the opportunity to win a fabulous two-night stay for two at the Leopold Hotel in the city centre, with breakfast. When Death Comes to Call

Electrifying music is interwoven around two gripping pieces of drama: Mozart and Salieri by Alexander Pushkin and Edgar Allan Poe's The Masque of the Red Death. Music performed by Ensemble 360.

Late Night Extra: Steve Reich’s Counterpoint

Steve Reich's pulsating counterpoint works for electric guitar and clarinet are performed in the surround-sound setting of the Crucible studio.

The Art of Fugue

Following a sell-out performance last year, Ensemble 360's Laurène Durantel revisits her wonderful improvised accompaniment (featuring double bass, piano and voice) to Dziga Vertov's acclaimed Man with a Movie Camera.

The Dissonance String Quartet - probably Mozart's most famous quartet - is brought to life by Ensemble 360 in this short afternoon concert, together with the composer's imaginative Piano Trio in E.

Aquarelle Guitar Quartet

Classical favourites, irresistible tango and famous movie hits are all performed up close by the award winning Aquarelle Guitar Quartet - featured artists at Classic Fm live at the Royal Albert Hall 2016.
