Classic FM's More Music Breakfast with Tim Lihoreau 6am - 9am
This week, Andrew is celebrating classical pieces made familiar to many by their use in films.
Among the fantastic works that were given a second lease of life in the movies, Andrew has Richard Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra and Johann Strauss II's By the Beautiful Blue Danube which were both used in 2001: A Space Odyssey (pictured).
Apocalypse Now gave us Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries as American Chinook helicopters thundered over Vietnam, the setting also for Platoon and the heart-rending use of Barber's Adagio for Strings.
And Andrew explores how classical music has also been used in video games and adverts.
