LA Phil Friday on the Full Works Concert

Friday 31 October 2014, 8pm. Catherine Bott presents the first of five special Friday night performances from the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

It’s an extra-special Full Works Concert tonight, as Catherine Bott presents the first of five exclusive LA Phil Fridays – live performances from Classic FM’s Orchestra in America - the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Music critics have described the LA Phil as the most "contemporary minded", "forward thinking", "talked about and innovative", "venturesome and admired" orchestra in America. Since the opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2003, the orchestra has presented 57 world premieres, one North American premiere, 26 U.S. premieres and has commissioned or co-commissioned 63 new works.

The LA Phil has a regular season of concerts from October to June at architect Frank Gehry's spectacular Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as a summer season at the Hollywood Bowl from July to September.

On the programme tonight, three legendary conductors are on the podium - Zubin Mehta conducts Mozart, the LA Phil's Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts Schumann and Beethoven, and current Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts Debussy's epic, La Mer.
