The Full Works Concert - Thursday 27 November 2014

Catherine Bott marks the birthday of violinist Hilary Hahn.

Tonight Catherine Bott is in festive mood as she celebrates the 35th birthday of violinist Hilary Hahn with her stunning performance of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto

Hilary Hahn was just three years old when she started playing the violin. She has since gone on to tour the world with her playing, winning many awards in the process. Alongside her solo work and a deep interest in chamber music, she has also collaborated with non-classical musicians and can be heard as featured soloist on the soundtrack of M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Village

Brahms’s Academic Festival Overture provides a suitably celebratory opening and Haydn has a surprise or two up his sleeve.

The concert concludes with Bach’s joyful and uplifting Magnificat.
