Detectives in the movies is the subject of this week's show.

This week, Howard Goodall explores the theme of detectives in the movies.  

Highlights include Jerry Goldsmith's brilliant score for Chinatown, Bernard Herrmann's iconic music for Vertigo, and Hans Zimmer's soundtracks for the Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.  

There'll also be examples from the small screen - Poirot and Inspector Morse, for example - and an appearance from The Pink Panther himself!
