Monty Norman’s original theme for 007… but it’s played by a deliciously melodic string quartet.
Although many have tried, composers for the James Bond movies have struggled to go beyond the iconic original theme, composed by Monty Norman and arranged by John Barry in the '60s. And it’s no surprise – the theme is dark, but oh-so-schmoozy and exquisite.
Was the James Bond theme actually written by Sibelius?
It’s also one of the most covered themes on YouTube. Here’s a lovely version, played by a string quartet with lots of tension-building pizzicato and long sweeping strings.
